About Tricia
Tricia Wellings is an experienced early years expert, known within the industry for the support and training she has provided over the last 21 years. Tricia has ‘hands on’ specialist knowledge, and is recognised for her prowess with finance and funding in the industry, having achieved a £2 million business that includes five “Bright Kids” day nurseries.
Tricia has also done the hard yards, gaining the appropriate education:
- NNEB
- BA (Hons) in Early Education Studies
- Early Years Teacher Status
Further to this Tricia is now qualified to teach and assess adult learners and also has obtained:
- PTTLS
- CTTLS
- A1 Assessors Award
A powerful combination of knowledge and expertise that puts Tricia in an authoritative position, enabling her to put herself in the shoes of other nursery owners / businesses, truly understanding their needs and constraints in delivering their service. Tricia understands the nuances of the childcare industry, from staffing levels, safeguarding, employment law, the EYFS, Ofsted and through to managing the finances.
Tricia’s passion to help others has meant she has developed a library of training and education materials, as well as, the policies and procedures necessary to run a successful day nursery. Tricia delivers these and other consultative services through the more recently established MBK Group.
In addition to the day job, Tricia is also highly engaged as one of the PVI representatives on Worcestershire Schools Forum, she is Chair of the West Midlands Ofsted Big Conversation Steering Group, which organises the Big Conversation meetings with Ofsted and is a member of PVI support groups in Birmingham, Warwickshire & Worcestershire. Most recently she has been on the Emergency Early Years Covid-19 Task groups within these local authorities, advocating for the Early Years sector.
Tricia actually embarked on a sales career, selling time share property in Spain. She quickly advanced through the ranks, gaining unparalleled sales experience, selling vending machines before moving to sales and customer service roles in the print industry.
Tricia lives in Warwickshire with her partner and co-director Paul and their two dogs, Billy & Davie. Her two daughters Katie and Zoë both work in the business and she hopes one day they will succeed her and then she can assume the role of chair of MBK Group or even retire and explore different parts of the world.
